Certified Refrigerant Compliance Manager Training

In the 12-hour session conducted by ESS, you will sharpen your refrigerant compliance knowledge and take the 2-hour exam required to become a Certified Refrigerant Compliance Manager. This seminar and certification was developed largely for managers with the primary responsibility of ensuring compliance. Understanding the myriad of regulations is essential to avoiding costly oversights.

Day 1 - Tuesday (8am to 4:30pm)

Understand the framework for refrigerant compliance regulations

  • Discover the scientific rationale for the regulations designed to control release of refrigerants into the environment
  • Look at the protocols that were the premise for the 1990 amendments to the Clean Air Act
  • Discuss the current regulatory climate, powerfully illustrated by a discussion of recent enforcement actions

Discuss applicable EPA regulations

  • Thoroughly review regulations in 40 CFR Part 82
  • Examine the impacts of recent regulatory changes on your management practices
  • Identify specific recordkeeping requirements as they relate to various refrigerant systems and technicians, as well as recordkeeping responsibilities for owners and operators

Develop best practices for effective refrigerant management

  • Identify non-required, but recommended, recordkeeping that is essential for demonstrating compliance
  • Discuss important considerations for a comprehensive refrigerant compliance plan
  • Identify ASHRAE and ANSI standards that impact your practice
  • Develop policies and procedures for in-house personnel and contractors
  • Examine forms and software that will help streamline compliance

Day 2 - Tuesday (8am to 12pm)

Respond to a Section 114a Letter

  • Weigh data-management options
  • Understand why certain information would be requested in a Section 114a letter received from the EPA
  • Utilize reports found in RCM 2003 or Refrigerant Compliance Management Software to respond to a 114a letter in a timely manner

Become a CRCM!

  • Use the knowledge and resource guide you acquainted in class to respond to the 100 question, open-book exam required to become a CRCM.
  • Assure that your qualifications for CRCM candidacy have been submitted to the NREP.
