TEMPE, Ariz. – June 30, 2009 – ESS, the leading provider of Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management software for enterprise sustainability, today announced that it has been selected as a charter member of the IBM Green Sigma Coalition™, a partnership dedicated to providing innovative solutions for greenhouse gas (GHG), water, waste and energy management. ESS underscored its commitment to the Coalition and its mission following a successful launch meeting held June 23rd in San Francisco.
"ESS is honored to be a founding member of the IBM Green Sigma Coalition," said Robert Johnson, ESS President and CEO. "Addressing sustainability challenges at the enterprise level requires a holistic approach. For 15 years, our clients have achieved major efficiency gains by unlocking data previously stored in disparate, stand-alone systems. Our tightly integrated GHG, water and waste emissions solutions – all built on a single sustainability platform – reduce complexity, risks and costs by enabling analysis and reporting at every level of the organization. Now, by collaborating with our Coalition partners, we will be able to deliver even greater interoperability and leverage a broader spectrum of data to drive revenue growth and enterprise sustainability."
IBM created the Green Sigma Coalition with key leaders in the metering, monitoring, automation, data communications and software industries. Its mission is to accelerate the move toward sustainable enterprises through implementation of high value emissions management projects. Coalition members will work with IBM to integrate their products and services with IBM's Green Sigma solution, which applies Lean Six Sigma principles and practices to help organizations improve efficiency, reduce consumption and waste, and lower the environmental impact of their operations.
The IBM Green Sigma Coalition was officially launched at the recent "Green & Beyond Summit" meeting. Participating in the meeting were senior executives from all of the charter companies including IBM, ESS and eight other companies – see IBM's news release for the complete list – all selected because they are recognized global leaders in their respective fields.
"As the only charter member whose entire business is dedicated to EH&S sustainability management, we are confident that we can deliver real value to this Coalition," continued Mr. Johnson. "ESS and IBM will begin defining our joint offering through a series of solution mapping work-sessions, combining relevant ESS solutions with Green Sigma as part of an open integration framework. We're excited to get started!"
