Independent research compliance and operational risk expert will give keynote address at ESS' Business Conference and Workshop for Essential Suite™ and Compliance Suite™ software users
TEMPE, Ariz. ― July 28, 2006 ― Michael Rasmussen, architect of the Enterprise Risk Management strategy for creating value by addressing compliance and risk, will serve as the keynote speaker for ESS EXPO.06, the Business Conference and Workshop for ESS clients, partners and other associates, ESS announced today.
Rasmussen, Vice President, Enterprise Risk & Compliance Management in the IT Management & Services research group at Forrester Research, is considered one of the foremost authorities in understanding the broad view and impact of information risk standards, regulations and legislation.
ESS EXPO.06 is dedicated to helping Essential Suite and Compliance Suite clients use their Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management software to reduce costs and risks. Rasmussen's address is entitled, "Enterprise Risk Management: Assuring Sustainability and Achieving Business Advantages through Information Technology. " His themes will include:
"Without proper governance and control, business processes and systems behave like leaves blowing in the wind – but control and monitoring forces these business processes to become more efficient and well managed. Inefficiencies, errors and potential risks can be identified, averted, or contained, reducing exposure of the organization and ultimately driving better business performance," Rasmussen writes in the June 2006 Forrester report entitled, "Topic Overview: Enterprise Risk and Compliance."
"Effective compliance systems can be used as organizing principals to drive consistency into an enterprise compliance effort, while aligning these activities with how they will be judged by regulators themselves."
Robert Johnson, CEO of ESS, said, "We feel very fortunate to have Michael coming to talk about current market dynamics and tools for assuring compliance, maximizing operational excellence and enhancing stakeholder value. This will be a can't-miss session and I am looking forward to the discussion it undoubtedly will generate."
ESS EXPO.06, scheduled for October 8-12, 2006, at Pointe South Mountain Resort in Phoenix, will feature a variety of plenary and applications sessions, along with the always popular Hands-On Workshop, technology exhibits, training classes and a visit by one of the Microsoft Across America live demonstration trucks. Activities include the annual ESS Golf Tournament and an awards program featuring World Hall of Fame golfer Hale Irwin. Early bird registration ends Monday, July 31st.
