Leader in Operational Risk Management information systems delivers global enterprise scalability

TEMPE, Ariz. - March 2, 2006 - ESS, the leading provider of Operational Risk Management software and services for Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management, announced today that it has received an award for international expansion from Environmental Business Journal.

The award resulted primarily from groundbreaking overseas projects for ESS that began during the year. In one, PetroChina Company Limited (NYSE:PTR) the largest oil and gas producer in the People's Republic of China, awarded ESS a contract for the first enterprise-wide Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management implementation of its kind in the country. Once the implementation is completed, users will be able to access the Suite in 41 regional branches nationwide in Mandarin Chinese.

Essential Suite is also being used by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) to manage emissions of their oil refining operations and in the construction of a new refinery. The software is being used to run"whatif" scenarios to help KNPC incorporate the most stringent emissions-reducing characteristics and environmental impact scenarios directly into the design of the facility.

ESS has provided software and services to more than 17,000 organizations in 30 countries. Included are businesses, government and military facilities, healthcare organizations, power utilities, chemical manufacturers, educational institutions and nearly half of the Fortune 500.

"ESS continues to improve corporate social responsibility, both domestically and internationally," said Grant Ferrier, president of Environmental Business International, Inc., and editor of Environmental Business Journal. "The exceptional effort put forth in international markets in 2005 visibly warranted a Silver Medal of Achievement for International Expansion."

"We are grateful to have been recognized by EBJ," said Robert Johnson, CEO of ESS, who accepted the award during a ceremony Wednesday night at EBJ's Environmental Industry Summit 2006. "The international projects we are being recognized for will enable us to give our entire client base access to enhancements such as enterprise scalability, product functionality and country-specific localization."

Essential Suite is recognized as the most powerful set of solutions on the market, with integrated modules for managing Compliance, Tasking, Air, Water, Waste, Fugitive Emissions, Chemical Inventory, Industrial Hygiene, MSDS, and Crisis Management data. Clients use the suite and associated services for activities ranging from basic regulatory compliance to developing beyond compliance performance metrics that help reduce overall costs and risks.
