Koppers Selects Essential Suite® For Environmental Stewardship Upgrade
International chemical company looks to Operational Risk Management software system by ESS for enhanced corporate sustainability and social responsibility
TEMPE, Ariz. - February 21, 2006 - Koppers (NYSE: KOP), a global producer of chemicals, carbon compounds and treated wood products, has signed a contract to implement Essential Suite®, by ESS, as a core element in its plan to boost overall corporate performance through enhanced Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management.
In building on its world-class EH&S system, Koppers will use Essential Compliance Manager™, Essential Water™, Essential Incident Master™ and Essential Performance Manager™. The fully integrated, 100 percent browser-based software modules are designed to promote Operational Risk Management – managing the risk of losses caused primarily by internal processes, people and external events – by incorporating regulatory compliance data into corporate-level decision making processes.
The initial implementation will be conducted in the corporation's U.S. facilities, with the international locations to follow. Koppers is purchasing the software and will also use ESS' hosting services. This arrangement is designed to further manage costs and risk, while enabling internal resources to focus on core competencies.
