Robert Johnson, CEO and President

Robert Johnson, the founder of ESS, is a visionary leader who transformed a startup green company into a global industry leader. When he founded ESS in 1993, Johnson already had twenty years of experience in technical and management positions within the commercial environmental systems industry, last with United Technologies.

He is a recognized industry expert in the areas of the Clean Air Act Title VI, ozone depleting and global warming chemical management, hazardous waste management and indoor air quality. From the time he founded ESS, Johnson's personal vision has been to use emerging technologies to manage the emissions of industrial companies proactively and limit the impact of necessary processes on the environment. Now he has gone even further in helping his global customers minimize their carbon footprint on the planet.

Mr. Johnson has also been nominated for the EPA's Stratosphere Ozone Protection and Climate Protection awards. He is a member of organizations including ASTM – ISO 14000 on Environmental Management, Air Conditioning Contractors of America, the Air and Waste Management Association, and is a charter member of the Arizona IAQ Council.

Ian Achterkirch, Chief Revenue Officer

Mr. Achterkirch has more than 15 years experience in developing and directing sales teams in the enterprise software industry. At ESS, he is responsible for sales oversight of both the Essential Suite™ and Compliance Suite™ product lines. As co-founder of the Demand Stream product line for SoftBrands Manufacturing, he developed the company's strategic partner program and led business initiatives with SAP and Microsoft. Also, from 1988 to 1991, he worked as a staff consultant for Andersen Consulting.

Scott Gilbert, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Gilbert has more than a decade of leadership experience in senior financial positions for software development, environmental technology and digital animation companies. Prior to joining ESS, he was Chief Financial Officer at First Solar, LLC, where he assisted in strategy formation and development of a $50 million investment plan for the company. He has also held positions at Rainbow Studios, Coopers & Lybrand and Bank One, Arizona.

Scott Lockhart, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Lockhart provides executive oversight of all ESS operations and execution, including software development, client services and infrastructure IT. He has more than 15 years of experience providing executive leadership and domain expertise in services delivery, asset optimization, and vertical software applications. Mr. Lockhart also has deep domain experience within the Environmental, Health, and Safety arena, having served in executive leadership roles with Data Systems and Solutions (DS&S), a division of Rolls Royce, Trinity Consultants and SAIC. Scott has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kansas where he graduated with distinction.
