What we are looking for in this outstanding opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Performance Test Engineer in our Tempe, AZ headquarters. You will report directly to the Director of Quality Assurance.

The Performance Test Engineer position is responsible for developing and implementing performance test initiatives across company products. A demonstrated career commitment to testing and/or quality assurance is preferred. Position requires a familiarity with the latest performance/load/stress automation techniques in testing theory and practice, a commitment to on-going learning about the field, and a history of applying useful testing concepts in previous positions. The Performance Test Engineer will be responsible for designing performance test solutions for ESS products, and assuring that those products meet our quality standards. 

This role will work closely with development and business leads on projects, across products for which they are responsible and across locations, where applicable, in order to execute the work according to plan.

The ideal candidate will be an individual who posses the demonstrated record of qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other computer-related field or relative experience

Position Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 + years experience in performance test automation and tool development, with at least one year of that experience in a .NET/web-based application environment., specializing in front-end (UI) and/or back-end (batch/data transfer) performance testing approaches.
  • A demonstrated strong understanding of web architecture, multi-tier application configurations and tuning, distributed systems, network systems, and relational DB systems (Oracle, SQL Server) required.
  • A minimum of 2+ years direct experience using LoadRunner for the specific purpose of automating performance test cases, including excellent scripting and analysis skills.
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in developing SQL queries.
  • Must be highly analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) models.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently and aggressively in dealing with development and finding resolution to issues found during testing.
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in the areas of solution and product performance especially pertaining to QA testing tools and emerging methodologies
  • Experience working with test harnesses or testing frameworks.
  • Experience in migrating a testing environment from manual to an automated environment.
  • Previous experience in implementing performance QA testing tools.
  • Technical understanding of how applications are designed (databases, application servers, user interface).
  • Develop and execute automated tests using the selected tool, which will likely require programming in C, C++, Java, or applicable scripting language.

  • Must be detail-, deadline- and results-oriented
  • Must be very proactive and exhibit initiative with very minimal supervision
  • Must proactively identify problems, make recommendations regarding solutions, and follow through accordingly

Management Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and be able to demonstrate management skills applicable to managing projects in a lead role, including and not limited to delegating, planning, and controlling.

Desired/Preferred Skills:

  • 5+ years work-related experience, preferably in the software industry Certified Software Test Engineer (CSTE)
  • Experience with advanced development practices (ex. Agile)
  • Exposure to ISO 9000 and CMM guidelines
  • Programming, system administration, or database administration experience
  • Experience in the analysis and creation of test metrics for executive level
  • Experience working with off-shore vendors

This position may at times require more than 40 hours per week.
